Yves Henri Donat Mathieu-Saint-Laurent, known as Yves Saint Laurent (1 August 1936 – 1 June 2008)[1][2], was an Algerian-born French fashion designer who was considered one of the greatest figures in French fashion in the 20th century[3]. In 1985, Caroline Rennolds Milbank wrote, “The most consistently celebrated and influential designer of the past twenty-five years, Yves Saint Laurent can be credited with both spurring the couture’s rise from its sixties ashes and with finally rendering ready-to-wear reputable”.

Roberto Cavalli Sample Sale

Roberto Cavalli was born in Florence, Italy on November 15, 1940 to an artistic family; his grandfather, Giuseppe Rossi, was a prolific member of the Macchiaioli Movement, whose work is exhibited in the Uffizi Gallery. Cavalli decided to enroll at the local Art Institute, concentrating in textile print. While still a student, he made a series of flower prints on knit that caught the attention of major Italian hosiery factories.

Roberto Cavalli likes innovations and experimentations, and likes to push technique to the limit.[citation needed] In the early 1970s, he invented and patented a revolutionary printing procedure on leather, and started creating patchworks of different materials. He debuted these techniques in Paris, immediately getting commissions from the likes of Hermès and Pierre Cardin. At the age of thirty, he presented his first namesake collection at the Salon for Prêt-à-Porter in Paris. He brought it to the catwalks of the Sala Bianca of Palazzo Pitti in Florence, and later on those of Milano Collezioni jeans made of printed denim, intarsia leathers, brocade and wild prints. He then opened his first boutique in 1972 in Saint-Tropez.

In 1980 Roberto Cavalli married Eva Duringer, who has been his lifelong companion and business partner. In Milan in 1994 Cavalli presented the first sand-blasted jeans. By December of the same year, he had opened boutiques in Saint Barth, in the French Caribbean; and then in Venice and Saint-Tropez. Besides the main line, which is sold in over fifty countries worldwide, Roberto Cavalli designs RC Menswear as well as the youth aimed line Just Cavalli, launched in 1998 and comprising today men’s wear, women’s wear and accessories, eyewear, watches, perfumes, underwear and beachwear. There is also the Angels & Devils Children Collection, the Class line, two underwear collections, shoes, eyewear, watches and perfumes. In 2002 Cavalli opened his first café-store in Florence, revamping it with his signature animal prints. This was shortly followed by the opening in Milan of the Just Cavalli café at Torre Branca and another boutique on Via Spiga.

It was reported in April 2008 that Cavalli had put his business up for sale, and was hoping for offers in the region of €2bn, although his advisers Merrill Lynch were aiming for €1.2bn.[1]

Roberto Cavalli has a highly idiosyncratic style. Focused on details as well as on the whole image, he likes to play with excesses, opposing and balancing them in a new harmony. Roberto Cavalli creates his vibrant patterns by using the most advanced technologies, but he gets his inspiration from nature as his predilection for animal prints and jungle and flower motifs testifies. He travels the world with a digital camera in hand, ready to capture whatever catches his attention and transform it into a new motif.

Cavalli lives with his wife Eva and their children in a villa on the hills surrounding Florence. He spends summers on their 41-metre yacht, which was specially made by Cantieri Baglietto and awarded with the Yacht Capital award in 2004.

Sample Sale for Bottega Veneta Handbangs

Bottega Veneta is a manufacturer of luxury leather goods, most famous for its Intrecciato line of woven leather. The company is based in Vicenza, in the Veneto region of northeast Italy. A family firm founded in 1966, Bottega Veneta was bought by Gucci in 2001.

Bottega Veneta was founded by Michele Taddei and Renzo Zengiaro in 1966.

However interest in the brand declined during the 1990s so in 2000, the Moltedos brought in British designer Giles Deacon to shake up the languishing house.[1] According to Deacon, the interview took place on a bed at the George V in Paris, and he got the job because Laura Moltedo liked a picture in his portfolio, of a budgerigar driving a Rolls-Royce.[1] Under Deacon the company launched a successful line of Ready-To-Wear clothing,[citation needed] but in July 2001[citation needed] Tom Ford persuaded Gucci Group to buy Bottega Veneta.[1]

Ford moved Deacon to Gucci womenswear,[1] and German-born designer Tomas Maier took over at Bottega Veneta. With Gucci’s support, Bottega Veneta has reclaimed its leading position in the luxury leather goods market.

Bottega Veneta is best known for its hand-woven leather goods – bags, belts, and shoes. They are all handcrafted in Italy and retail for €1000 or more. Current Bottega handbags typically boast clean lines, the softest Intreciatto woven leathers, and a classic palette. Major trends are nodded to (such as patent leather and studs in autumn 2007), but always in a toned-down, easy-to-wear way. They are generally only labelled on the inside, although under Deacon, the metalwork had small, subtle logos). Bottega Veneta’s approach is best summed up by a company slogan that loosely translates as “When your own initials are enough”

Maier’s aesthetic for Bottega Veneta Ready-To-Wear is more understated and classical[1] than Deacon’s “high-octane, ultra-sexy”[1] look. Lines are simple and clean, with ladylike silhouettes and (particularly for Spring/Summer collections) Greco-Roman inspired draping and folding predominating. The colour palette consists largely of light-toned neutrals and pastels for recent Spring/Summer collections, and black, neutrals and faded colours, such as reds and yellows for Autumn/Winter 2007–08.

PF Flyers and Issey Miyake Men’s

Before Chuck Taylor laced up his Converses, before Michael Jordan put on his Nikes – heck, before Michael Jordan was even born – Boston Celtics legend Bob Cousy was tearing up and down the court in his PF Flyers. It was the Posture Foundation insole technology that gave the sneakers their name, but PF Flyers quickly earned a more famous name for helping men and women look great and feel even better in a wide array of sneakers. More than 50 years after Cousy became basketball’s first superstar, these oiled canvas and Italian bead-embossed leathers are ready to turn you into a style all-star.

And for some really amazing discounts on  Issey Miyake Men

Miyake was born 22 April 1938 in Hiroshima, Japan. As a seven year-old, he witnessed and survived the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945.[1] He studied graphic design at the Tama Art University in Tokyo, graduating in 1964. After graduation, he worked in Paris and New York City. Returning to Tokyo in 1970, he founded the Miyake Design Studio.

In the late ’80s, he began to experiment with new methods of pleating that would allow both flexibility of movement for the wearer as well as ease of care and production. This eventually resulted in a new technique called garment pleating and in 1993’s Pleats Please in which the garments are cut and sewn first, then sandwiched between layers of paper and fed into a heat press, where they are pleated. The fabric’s ‘memory’ holds the pleats and when the garments are liberated from their paper cocoon, they are ready-to wear. He did the costume for Ballett Frankfurt with pleats in a piece named “the Loss of Small Detail” William Forsythe and also work on ballet “Garden in the setting”.

He had a long friendship with Austrian-born pottery artist Dame Lucie Rie. She bequeathed to him her substantial collection of ceramic and porcelain buttons, which he integrated into his designs and presented them in new collections.

In 1994 and 1999, Miyake turned over the design of the men’s and women’s collections respectively, to his associate, Naoki Takizawa, so that he could return to research full-time. In 2007, Naoki Takizawa opened his own brand, supported by the Issey Miyake Group and was replaced, as a Creative Director of the House of Issey Miyake, by Dai Fujiwara.

Issey Miyake lines and brands

Mr. Miyake “oversees the overall direction of all lines created by his company”, even though the individual collections have been designed by his staff since his ‘retirement’ from the fashion world in 1997.[2][3]

  • Issey Miyake – main collection line, subdivided into men (since 1978/85) and women (since 1971) collections, designed by Dai Fujiwara [4] (succeeded Naoki Takizawa in 2006)[5]
  • Issey Miyake Fête – colorful women’s line that “draws on the technological innovations of Pleats Please”[6] (Fête means ‘celebration’ in French) (since 2004)
  • Pleats Please Issey Miyakepolyester jersey garments for women that are first “cut and sewn and then pleated [...] (normally, fabric is first pleated and then cut and sewn [...])”[7] “to permanently retain washboard rows of horizontal, vertical or diagonal knife-edge pleats.”[8] (since 1989/93)
  • HaaT – women’s line, designed by Miyake’s former textile designer, Makiko Minagawa. HaaT means ‘village market’ in Sanskrit, the word sound similar to ‘heart’ in English.[9][10] (since 2000).
  • A-POC – custom-collection for men and women. Tubes of fabric are machine-processed and can be cut into various shapes by the consumer. A-POC is an acronym of ‘a piece of cloth’, and a near homonym of ‘epoch’.[11][2][12][4][13][14] (since 1997)
  • me Issey Miyake – line of “exclusive one-sized shirts that stretch to fit the wearer” that are sold in plastic tube, named Cauliflower for the non-Asian market.[15][16] (since 2001)
  • Issey Miyake Watches – men’s and women’s watches
  • Issey Miyake Parfums – line of fragrances for men and women, see below
  • Issey Miyake maintains a freestanding store, named ELTTOB TEP Issey Miyake (reverse for ‘Pet Bottle’) in Osaka where the full array of lines is available.[17]
  • 21-21 Design Sight (a play on 20/20 vision) is a museum-style research center for design, constructed by Tadao Ando, that was opened in Roppongi, Tokyo in March 2007. The center is headed by Issey Miyake and four other Japanese designers, and operated by The Miyake Issey Foundation.[18][19]
  • The Miyake Issey Foundation, founded in Tokyo in 2004, operates the 21_21 Design Sight center, organizes exhibitions and events, and publishes literature.
